As part of our complete pre-construction service we carry out a number of different surveys. We use the latest surveying technologies to record and produce exact representations of both buildings and sites.
This information provides a starting point for your project and helps us make sure the designs we develop are both accurate and workable. If you’re converting or extending your property, a building survey will give us valuable information to help us design and plan the necessary works.

Measured Building Surveys
We carry out measured building surveys to document and record the dimensions and the structural and architectural features of buildings. The surveys can be in either 2D or 3D BIM model forms, depending on the needs of the project. They include floorplans, building elevations and sections, which we use as base models for future development works. We also carry out measured building surveys to document and record listed buildings.
Topographical Surveys and Terrain Modelling
We carry out topographical surveys to get a true representation of a site’s profiles, elevations, natural and man-made features. These include the position of buildings, boundaries, drains and services. The data is captured as a series of points which we use to create an accurate terrain profile model, which we then place into the design model.
The whole process accurately depicts the building in its natural surroundings and gives us vital information to determine the groundworks that will be needed, the position of the building and its elevation in relation to the site and its surrounding constraints.
For example, it helps us design your building to make the most of the site’s orientation, features and light and to protect it from rainwater run-off or flooding.
Site Setting Out
For our site setting out service we use robotic total stations. This allows us to set out the site - including building foundations and structures, foundation bolts and roadways - quickly and accurately, based on our detailed construction drawings.
Crack Monitoring
Many buildings will develop cracks at some point during their lifetime. While small cracks are generally insignificant, larger cracks may be an indication of a serious problem. Our crack monitoring service will help determine the cause of the cracking and which, if any, remedial works are needed.
